My hearties wishes, a very happy Independence day to my respected Chief Guest, my honorable teachers, parents and all my lovely friends, brothers and sisters.
We all know today we have gathered here for celebrating our 68th Independence Day of India. This is the day, when India got freedom from the British Rulers after too long period of struggle. On this day we pay homage to our great freedom fighters like Mahatma Gandhi, Bal Gangadhar Tilak, Jawahar Lal Nehru, Bhagat Singh, Chandra Shekhar Azad, Sarojini Naidu and many others who sacrificed their lives to get the freedom of our country. This declaration brought about a rise in spirits all over our country, for India was finally realizing a dream to be a independent nation, free from oppression and domination of the British rule. It was a remarkable historic day as India finally took off the shackles of British Rule and became independent. It was a great celebration all over the country.

Now in present time in our country India there increases lots of evils issues such as Terrorism, Corruption, Women oppression and many more. All these evils really spoil our culture very badly. We should all take pledge to make India safe and worth living for each and every Indian of the society.
Now I request all of you to sing with me national anthem. Please stand up in honor of our National Flag and National Anthem.

    This is the time of Indian independence day celebration. Almost all of the events in the Indepenedence day can’t go without a speech on India’s struggle to make the country Indpendence from the British. We are providing herewith an Independence day speech. This speech can be used by students to present a very good speech on India’s Independence day on August 15. These August 15 speeches are of great importance as through this Independence day speech we are saluting our country.
    Long years ago we made a tryst with destiny, and now the time comes when we will redeem our pledge, not wholly or in full measure, but very substantially. At the stroke of the midnight hour, when the world sleeps, India will awake to life and freedom. A moment comes, which comes but rarely in history, when we step out from the old to the new, when an age ends and when the soul of a nation, long suppressed, finds utterance…. We end today a period of ill fortune, and India discovers herself again.
    India got its independence from the clutches of British rule on 15th August 1947. Every year, August 15 is celebrated as the Independence Day in India. This national festival is celebrated with great enthusiasm all over the country. It was this day when India’s tricolor flag was unfolded by Pandit Nehru on the barricades of the Red Fort at Delhi. Each and every patriotic soul watched with excitement and paid tribute to thousands of martyrs who sacrificed their lives for India’s freedom.

Independence Day Speech 2014
Independence Day Speech 2014
Today we are here to celebrate the 68th independence day of this great Nation, Bharat. Being an Indian, it is no less than an honour to give speech on Independence Day of our great nation and share my notions with you.
India celebrate her Independence Day on 15th August every year. The day is being celebrated since India won her freedom from the foreign rule on 15th August 1947 and became a sovereign nation. Being born in a free country, Living and taking breath in free air is a privilege given to us by great leaders of this nation, those who thought for this nations life rather than their personal lives.
There are innumerable number of leaders who fought for freedom some fought for spiritual development, some for social and some for whole country. We had spiritual leaders like Vivekananda who – while given his speech at Chicago Religious conference in 1993 – swayed the whole mass and compelled them to think that Indian intellectual is none less than any other in the world. We had leaders like Mahatma Gandhi who – by means of his non-violence practice gave a new ideology to this whole world. We had leaders like Dr. Ambedkar who worked throughout his life for the upliftment of the downtrodden of the Indian society, any many more. Today we are here to honour them, and to remember.
Concluding my speech, summarizing all my thoughts I want to say -
We owe a lot to our leaders, those who laid down their life so that the country could live. There are no such words that further can define their sacrifice for this vary nation. Our true service to our mother land will be the only true tribute to them.
Jai Hind, Jai Bharat

Independence Day Speech

As you know all of us have gathered here to celebrate 68th independence day of our nation. This day, after the hosting national flag, we salute and remember the heroic deeds of all freedom fighters. As a citizen of India, I feel so proud to give a speech on Independence Day and share some of my views with you all. On the night of August 14, 1947, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru rose to make a speech on Independence day in New Delhi, When the world sleeps, India will wake to life and freedom. India became free from the British rule. Now, India is the largest democratic country in the world. The country strength is to find, Unity in diversity. But, there are stray incidents that test her secularism but the people of India are ready to sacrifice anything for the cause of unity.
My dear friends,We were the privileged lot to have been born in free India. We were able to breathe the fresh free air since our birth. If at all we want to know the pangs of agony of being slaves under a foreign rule, we must ask our elders born before 1947. It was indeed a Himalayan task for every Indian those days to fight against those powerful giants the British rulers. We must not allow those hard times and struggles fade away from our memories.Hence it is befitting for us to celebrate such National festivals and recall those heroic deeds of our National heroes. We remember them today.
Long years ago we made a tryst with destiny, and now the time comes when we will redeem our pledge, not wholly or in full measure, but very substantially. At the stroke of the midnight hour, when the world sleeps, India will awake to life and freedom. A moment comes, which comes but rarely in history, when we step out from the old to the new, when an age ends and when the soul of a nation, long suppressed, finds utterance. We end today a period of ill fortune, and India discovers herself again.
Today we remember the great leaders who gave their lives for the nations freedom and prosperity. Dr. B.R.Ambedkar gave the longest written constitution to us. Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru worked for an Industrialized India. Gandhi taught us Ahimsa and Non-violence. Subhash Chandra Bose inducted courage in us. Swami Vivekananda gave us spiritual power. But its not good to remember the heroic deeds of only few main leaders of freedom fight because the freedom fighting was collective effort. Without cooperation, sacrifice and involvement of all Indians it was impossible to get the freedom. So people of India were the real national heroes behind the success. We should express our sincere gratitude to all those who participated in the freedom struggle. This can only be done by defending our freedom like our ancestral property which cannot be valued.
But the questions arises How to defend?
We know that Single person cannot defend it; again group effort is essential, it is nothing but unity.
But again How to form this unity?
We should always remember that only patriotism can form unity irrespective of religion, language, caste, customs and traditions. So having patriotism only can save the freedom of our nation.
To keep faith in secularism
No compromise must be with patriotism,
Punish the forces that support terrorism
Else one bad day we will loose our freedom.
Well at the end we must take an oath that let us do our duty of preparing ourselves to be well-educated citizens of tomorrow. Let us do our duty sincerely and do work hard to achieve a goal. Today we require youngsters with lot of knowledge and energy. Illiteracy is the first enemy for a democratic nation. Let us get rid of illiteracy and take India to a bright future.
Jai Hind!!! Jai Bharat..!!!!

Independence Day Poems

Happy Independence Day Poems 2014
"Is there ought you need that my hands withhold, Rich gifts of raiment or grain or gold? Lo ! I have flung to the East and the West Priceless treasures torn from my breast, And yielded the sons of my stricken womb To the drum-beats of the duty, the sabers of doom. Gathered like pearls in their alien graves Silent they sleep by the Persian waves, Scattered like shells on Egyptian sands, They lie with pale brows and brave, broken hands, they are strewn like blossoms mown down by chance On the blood-brown meadows of Flanders and France. Can ye measure the grief of the tears I weep Or compass the woe of the watch I keep? Or the pride that thrills thro' my heart's despair And the hope that comforts the anguish of prayer? And the far sad glorious vision I see Of the torn red banners of victory? when the terror and the tumult of hate shall cease And life be refashioned on anvils of peace, And your love shall offer memorial thanks To the comrades who fought on the dauntless ranks, And you honour the deeds of the dauntless ones, Remember the blood of my martyred sons!"
Independence Day Poems In EnglishMy sleep got disturbed, thrice that day; I could not sleep tho’ a holiday; My mind was filled with thoughts unclear; I got up in the morn, much earlier; ‘Twas India’s Independence Day!
Thunder, lightning filled the night’s Sky; The day much overcast did fly; The Rain was just a drizzle that day; Wetted the ground of mud and clay; ‘Twas 15th of August, a rainy day.
The pea-birds howled and groaned that night; The Rain made them shiver with fright; Though ten, it looked like six in the morn; The Sun behind the clouds had gone; The Sky ground-glass remained that day.
The leaky tap-waters that fell, Raised wavelets, ploppy-toned and swell; Rain-drops on cables looked like pearls; Dropped, formed again, enticing souls; It looked it would rain long that day.
Rain-drops hanging beneath fir-twigs; Glittered in the scarce light like figs; The whole tree was aglow, alit; A thing of beauty, don’t miss it! The Sky looked like a barred-white board!
A frail, brown-skinned, bony human, With sack on head, bent-back, he ran! The Indian was agonizing! Tho’ people keep sermonizing! Fifty years after Independence! What good was done for the common-man?

  • Where the mind is without fear
    and the head is held high;
    Where knowledge is free;
    Where the world has not been
    broken up into fragments by
    narrow domestic walls;
    Where words come out from
    the depth of truth;
    Where tireless striving stretches
    its arms towards perfection;
    Where the clear stream of reason
    has not lost its way into the dreary
    desert sand of dead habit;
    Where the mind is lead forward by thee
    into ever-widening thought and action-
    Into that heaven of freedom, my Father,
    let my country awake.”
    “Geetanjali”
    - Rabindranath Tagore
  • “Is there ought you need that my hands withhold, Rich gifts of raiment or grain or gold? Lo ! I have flung to the East and the West Priceless treasures torn from my breast, And yielded the sons of my stricken womb To the drum-beats of the duty, the sabers of doom…..” The Gift of India – Sarojini Naidu
  • “Better than Heaven or Arcadia
    I love thee, O my India!
    And thy love I shall give
    To every brother nation that lives.
    God made the Earth;
    Man made confining countries
    And their fancy-frozen boundaries…”
    Swami Yogananda Paramhansa
  • Vande Mataram “Mother, I bow to thee! Rich with thy hurrying streams, Bright with thy orchard gleams, Cool with thy winds of delight, Dark fields waving, Mother of might, Mother free…..” Original Poem written by Bankim Chandra Chatterjee in Bengali Translated by Sri Aurobindo
  • How can one be compelled to accept slavery? I simply refuse to do the master’s bidding. He may torture me, break my bones to atoms and even kill me. He will then have my dead body, not my obedience. Ultimately, therefore, it is I who am the victor and not he, for he has failed in getting me to do what he wanted done. Mahatma Gandhi
